IMPORTANT NOTICE: AT THEIR AUGUST 19, 2025 MEETING, THE WATER & SEWER COMMISSIONERS VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO NOT EXPAND THE SEWER SERVICE FROM THE CURRENT NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS AND NOT ENTERTAIN ANY SUBDIVISIONS OR FURTHER CONNECTIONS TO THE TOWN SEWER SERVICE.
This vote was taken after discussion of the Town's contract with the City of Northampton and the amount of flow the Town is allowed to send to Northampton's Sewer Treatment Plant. Currently, the Town's flow pushes almost to maximum allowed flow. If the flow is above allowed limits, the Town has to pay hefty fines per day.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Williamsburg Water and Sewer Commission is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Town of Williamsburg's  drinking water resources and the distribution system utilized to convey this resource and the wastewater collection system to residents and businesses throughout the town. The town water is supplied through a well that is located in Williamsburg on Roger Bisbee Way.

The Williamsburg Water Department’s mission is to protect the water resources of the town, treat the water to ensure that it is safe and clean, and upgrade and maintain the distribution system.  Protection of the water supply resources minimizes the amount of treatment required and, in direct relationship, treatment costs.

Continuous upgrading and maintenance of the distribution system ensures that an adequate supply of drinking water will be available to consumers now and in the future.  The first priority of the Williamsburg Water Department is to provide an ample supply of safe, clean drinking water to residents, and businesses, at an affordable price.  Additional goals of the Williamsburg Water Department are to include keeping abreast of newly promulgated drinking water regulations and technological developments associated with drinking water supplies, treatment methods, distribution systems and essential fire protection.  Continued education for staff in the field of drinking water prepares us to meet current and future federal and state drinking water mandates and to provide for the future water supply needs of the Town of Williamsburg.

The Town of Williamsburg's wastewater goes to the City of Northampton for treatment. The town must adhere to the sewer regulations from Northampton. The Commission has adopted similar regulations for the Town of Williamsburg.
