#1. A motion to accept the minutes as corrected of Meeting #7 of Wednesday February 20th 2019, was made by Jim and seconded by Nancy. Passed with non-attending and non-voting members abstaining.

#4. No pre-arranged guest speaker. N/A.

#5. HVES.  Meeting cancelled due to snow storm. Jenn has been assigned to the Personnel Committee.

#6. Outreach Report.

  1. Tryna Hope is an RSVP volunteer to assist Sherry.  Jenn is building an Outreach Program and has posted a position for a part-time outreach coordinator; Has a strong applicant.
  2. Aging in Place Programming:

1.Jenn is leading a food security program for the Hilltown Consortium, collaborating with local Clergy and Deb Hollingworth, the liaison for the Consortium.The Senior Center will be hosting an informational meeting (open to the public) on Saturday June 8th, discussing food insecurity in the hilltowns and what we as a group are planning to do.

2. Collaborating with CDH for a senior health fair which will focus on issues of aging at home, health insurance etc.COA will be hosting at Town Hall on Saturday 29 June from 10—12.Open to the public.

3.AARP.HO#1-4.Certification by AARP and WHO for the Town of Williamsburg.

“Williamsburg is committed to becoming more age-friendly under the criteria established and has been accepted as a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities”.Valid until March 18. 2021.AARP has an “Ambassador Volunteer” programto be the liaison between our town and AARP.Jenn offered this to the COA

4. Discussed walkability: benches and Burgy 250th.

North Hill Towns Consortium has received a grant $88k which will assist coverage of the Newsletter and postage.

  1. Programming:

1.Part one of a Three-part series on Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia given by The Alzheimer’s Association.First discussion 3/27/2019.

  1. Bi-weekly Ukulele Strum Group by Dan Frank (Local Musician) beginning in April. 
  2. The Senior Center is working with Carol Rinehart to discuss: “Who’s in your Tribe” A program which demonstrates connectivity as we age.
  3. Meditation and Relaxation class beginning May 21. RSVP volunteer.
  4. Creation of a hiking group was discussed.
  5. Discussion on creating a gardening group. 
  6. Looking to start a new exercise program. Jenn looking for ideas.
  7. The town manager has given the Senior Center permission to use Town Hall on Fridays.
  8. The budget was submitted and presented to the Selectboard.  Accepted.

#7.  HEN

  1. Jenn met with Charley Hayes about cost to Williamsburg ($4000) regardless if Williamsburg is covered by the CDBG grant. Williamsburg not covered for 2 years and the need for services has increased.    Discussion on creating a Williamsburg COA fund to help people who fall into gray zone and are not covered by HEN.  Discussion on Community Credits reciprocity. 

 

#8. Other

  1. Northern Hilltowns Consortium is building a website where each town will have its own link.
  2. 2nd Thriller Book Club. Six people present.
  3. Men’s Group.  Larry mentioned that the group has grown 12—15 per meeting and anticipates new members.
  4. Fundraiser at the Williamsburg Congregational Church for the Williamsburg Players to support a sound system for community plays. Scheduled April 13th with Italian dinner and music.
  5. Crop circle discussion.
  6. CDH is donating hospital beds to the public. Discussed TRIAD involvement for storage.
  7. Senior Center is posting a position for kitchen help either as a volunteer or paid part-time staff
