A sign of the economic times, costs for maintaining the infrastructure for the water and sewer for the residents of Williamsburg has risen. The Williamsburg Water & Sewer Commission raises revenue only to cover the current costs associated with providing these services. Despite the board’s best efforts to keep the costs down, there is a budget shortfall necessitating an increase to the user rates for consumers of our system.
The water rates will be increasing from $4.00 per 100 cubic feet to $5.40 per 100 cubic feet, and the sewer rates will be increasing from $3.00 per 100 cubic feet to $3.50 per 100 cubic feet. The fixed rates will be increasing also.
The average water bill will increase approximately $35.00 and the average sewer bill will increase approximately $15.00. These increases are approximately $8.00/month
These increases will go into effect with the Spring 2010 bills. These increases will be re-evaluated for the next year’s budget.
